Duties: Design and develop local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN), and facilitate network implementation. Create network design documentation and collaborates with cross functional teams to facilitate the deployment and development of data centers or network sites. Test, analyze, and validate network designs, hardware, and telemetry data to identify issues. Develop, utilize, or advocate for the adoption of automated testing and validation procedures. Suggest improvements to network devices, firmware, or configurations to increase efficiency, improve performance, reduce operational burden, minimize human error, and prevent bugs or service interruptions. Telecommuting permitted 100% from any location in the U.S. Requirements: Education and experience: Masters in Network Engineering, Network Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Database Design, or a related field. 12 months of experience in a computer/network engineering occupation. Specific Skills: Requires 12 months of experience in each of the following: Switching (VLAN, STP, VTP, Ether Channel), Routing (RIP, OSPF, BGP), Monitoring (SNMP), Firewall (ACL, IPsec), and VxLAN, L2.5 (MPLS, RSVP); TCP/IP, UDP, and ICMP; HTTP, DHCP, DNS, ARP, NAT, PAT, IPV4, IPv6, and Subnetting; Netmiko/Napalm, Ansible, Jinja, JSON/YAML, SDN, and OpenFlow; Python; GNS3, Cisco Packet Tracer, and Wireshark/TCPdump; Traffic Generators: Spirent TC or IXIA BP. Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
