Job Description
As an Operator 1, you will be responsible for packaging items that weigh less than 2 pounds into cardboard boxes. After a few months, you will be cross-trained to perform the printing part of the job, which includes setting up, adjusting, and operating printing machines, as well as preparing items for the next routing step. It is crucial to ensure that only products meeting company standards are passed on or packaged for shipment. You must be able to read and understand work instructions, perform basic math functions, and make necessary adjustments to machines.
Responsibilities
Package items weighing less than 2 pounds into cardboard boxes.
After training, set up, adjust, and operate printing machines.
Prepare items for the next routing step in the process.
Ensure only products meeting company standards are packaged or shipped.
Read and understand work instructions.
Perform basic math functions.
Make adjustments to machines as needed.
Essential Skills
Experience as a packer, in packaging, or machine operating.
Ability to work in a warehouse and shipping/receiving environment.
Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks, such as packaging and counting.
Must pass a skills test with 80% or better.
Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
6+ months of manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
1 year of prior consistent working experience preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment is extremely clean and climate-controlled, maintaining 70% humidity due to the nature of printing machines. Packaging positions require toe-covered shoes and wearing a provided blue shirt with a company symbol. Shipping and warehouse positions require steel-toed shoes and the same shirt. Shift hours include 1st shift from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with the possibility of working 10-hour days Monday through Friday. Each machine consists of 3-6 people, and there are 8 machines in the Operations department.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Red Wing, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.75/hr.
