WEST CENTRAL COMMUNITY ACTION Education Coordinator in RED OAK, Iowa
POSITION PURPOSE
The Education Support Coordinator manages the daily operations of the assigned Head Start Centers and activities. Education Support Coordinators are responsible for supervising and mentoring classroom staff to improve overall classroom performance and child/family outcomes. The ESC ensures the classrooms on their caseload are meeting or exceeding policies, procedures, and standards.
The following tasks will be accomplished in accordance with the written Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Policies and Procedures, and state licensing codes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Be knowledgeable of and abide by West Central Community Action (WCCA) Agency and Head Start Program policies and procedures while working with families and within the communities we serve.
Report to work as scheduled and maintain good attendance.
Perform all job duties assigned in a timely and professional manner.
Participate in and support all program activities.
Support management decisions in actions and words.
Will provide monthly report to Education Manager.
Mentor, train, and evaluate assigned staff in an effective and timely manner.
Review lesson plans, observation documentation, and individualization
plans on the Teaching Strategies Gold Platform (TSG) for assigned centers weekly and provide feedback to staff at a minimum of bi-weekly.
Complete monitoring checklists and assigned reports in a timely manner.
Responsible for auditing all child/family files to ensure compliance with federal, state, and program regulations and guidelines.
Monitor that children receive all screenings within required timelines and all referrals occur in a timely manner.
Collaborate with Family Advocate(s) working with assigned centers to ensure full-enrollment.
Identify staff member(s) training needs and work with the appropriate coordinator(s) to provide needed training.
Assist in collecting and compiling data for annual Community Needs Assessments and Self Assessment.
Attend all meetings concerning children in assigned centers.
Build and maintain community partnerships with service providers and referral sources in the WCCA Head Start service areas.
Conduct trainings, attend all assigned meetings, pre-service and professional development as assigned.
Maintain an Outlook calendar and share with the Education Manager.
Monitor and implement standards of quality for CLASS, TPOT, TPITOS, PBIS, QCIT, and all forms of Curricula Fidelity, as assigned.
Provide parents with relevant information and/or training regarding education activities.
Visit assigned classrooms weekly, more often if needed, and meet routinely with
Teachers for reflective supervision.
Follow the written Code of Conduct, WCCA Policies and Procedures, Head Start Policies and Procedures, and Head Start Performance Standards at all times.
Advocate and recruit for all West Central Community Action (WCCA) Programs including Head Start and its clientele.
Ability to cope and reflect on day-to-day stressors for self and others.
Promote best practices in early childhood development based on Head Start Performance Standards, State Child Care Licensing Standards, Creative Curriculum, and other prescribed curricula.
Responsible for on-boarding and monitoring of new employee plans for supervisees.
Provide opportunities for assigned staff to enhance their skills, understand program performance, school readiness goals, and curricula in their professional development.
Compile and distribute teaching materials as needed
Maintain communication with Program Director, Education Manager, other Education Support Coordinators, Professional Development Coordinator, and all other program coordinators to provide a comprehensive approach to serving children, families, and communities within assigned service areas.
Maintain open communication with assigned staff.
Train and monitor teaching staf in scheduling, time management, and timely reporting.
Work with Education Manager and Instructional Coach/Professional Development Coordinator to provide individual and/or group trainings/mentoring/coaching as needed.
Meet with Support Services
Coordinator to assure that children's mental health and disabilities interventions and services are being implemented according to their individual needs.
Attend and be knowledgeable in regards to disabilities or mental health meeting
s concerning children and families in assigned centers.
Responsible for monitoring the completion of all transition activities for children in assigned centers.
Assure that assigned classrooms meet or exceed Head Start Standards, State Licensing codes, and Agency Standards.
Complete performance evaluations of assigned staff in a timely manner.
Act as an advocate for WCAA Head Start Programs and families in interactions with other agencies and communities.
Build and maintain community partnerships with service providers and referral sources in the WCCA Head Start service area.
Conduct trainings, attend all assigned meetings, pre-services and professional development as assigned by the Head Start Director and/or Education Manager.
Actively participate in securing in-kind contributions from families, professionals, and community members.
Report on-the-job (workers' compensation) injuries to WCCA Human Resources Director by phone and then fill out reports as directed.
