Manually plant, cultivate, & harvest apples. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives. Duties include tilling soil & applying fertilizers and pesticides to crops; transplanting, weeding, thinning, & pruning crops, cleaning, packing, and loading harvested products. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings. Set up & operate irrigation equipment. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow & fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray, harvest & haul crops. Repair & maintain farm vehicles, implements & mechanical equipment. Harvest fruits by hand. Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops. Inform farmers or farm manager of crop progress.
Identify plants, pests, & weeds to determine the selection & application of pesticides & fertilizers. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Record information about crops, such as pesticides use, yields or costs.
Apples injured by bruising during picking shall not exceed 1% (WNY) for fresh and 1% (WNY) for processing. Productivity must be at least 6- 20 bushel bins fresh market and/or 8- 20 bushel bins processing fruit per day Workers are expected to work at least the number of days and hours specified. Employer will furnish to workers without cost all the tools and equipment required in the performance of the duties assigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitable clothes. Field temperatures may range from below 0 to 90+ degrees (F), with possible wet morning conditions. Workers must be physically able to lift up to 80 lbs on a consistent basis throughout the day. After hiring, employer may conduct random drug tests at employers expense. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months of verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in his order
Requirements: * Three months verifiable experience required. * The drug tests required. * Lifting requirement of 80 lbs. * Exposure to extreme temperatures. * Frequent stooping/bending, repetitive movements.
