Job description for Machine Operator (bag making machine)
A bag making machine operator sets up, operates, and maintains machinery to produce bags from materials like plastic film or paper. Key responsibilities include monitoring machine performance, ensuring product quality, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting mechanical issues. The job also involves handling raw materials, completing production paperwork, and ensuring a safe work environment.
Key responsibilities
· Machine operation: Set up and operate bag-making machinery according to job specifications.
· Monitoring and quality control: Constantly monitor the machine's performance to ensure quality and efficiency, inspecting finished bags for defects.
· Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on the machinery.
· Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical problems or quality issues as they arise.
· Material handling: Load raw materials, such as rolls of plastic film, and replenish supplies like ink and glue.
· Adjustment: Adjust machine settings to accommodate different materials, sizes, and specifications.
· Production and record-keeping: Maintain accurate production logs, complete required paperwork, and pack finished bags for shipping.
· Safety: Follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe work environment.
Key qualifications and skills
· Experience: Prior experience as a machine operator, ideally in the bag-making industry.
· Mechanical aptitude: Strong mechanical skills and problem-solving abilities to handle machinery and troubleshoot issues.
· Technical skills: Familiarity with automated machinery and control systems.
· Attention to detail: The ability to perform detailed quality checks and make precise adjustments.
· Physical ability: The ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate to heavy loads (e.g., up to 30 lbs).
· Teamwork: Strong communication and teamwork skills to work with other operators and supervisors.
