HSBC Corporate Banking in the UK provides both domestic and international commercial banking services to our existing and prospective clients.

We’re looking for an experienced, customer-focused Relationship Director to join our Corporate Banking team covering the Thames Valley and Solent. You’ll manage and grow a portfolio of complex corporate clients and originate new-to-HSBC relationships at the top end of our Corporate Banking franchise.

This role suits someone who enjoys building trusted partnerships, delivering excellent client outcomes, and balancing growth with strong risk discipline across credit, operational and regulatory requirements.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you'll:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing corporate clients, deepening relationships and identifying new opportunities

  • Originate new business by developing a strong pipeline of new-to-HSBC clients in the Thames Valley and wider region

  • Deliver an outstanding client experience, putting customer needs at the centre of everything you do

  • Build HSBC’s profile in the local business community and develop a network of professional introducers

  • Own relationship governance and risk, adhering to HSBC frameworks for credit, operational, reputational, financial crime and regulatory risk

  • Collaborate with product partners to deliver joined-up domestic and international solutions aligned to client needs

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in a relevant role within Corporate Banking

  • Strong capability in identifying client needs, structuring complex lending, and delivering appropriate products and solutions

  • Demonstrable success in relationship management and business development, including working with senior decision-makers

  • A comprehensive understanding of risk management, with experience operating within regulatory and compliance requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively

  • A collaborative mindset, able to build effective networks across teams and deliver outcomes at pace

  • Strong organisation skills and resilience when managing competing priorities

This is a hybrid role based in Reading, with regular travel across the Thames Valley for client meetings. Occasional travel across the UK and overseas may be required.
