Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Various roles are listed below.

Rogueing: the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the corn plants that are from a different species leaving the field ready for detasseling.

Corn detasseling: the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the spikes that are left after the detasseling machine passes through. Workers will remove the spikes and drop them on the ground.

Bagging: Workers will process, bag, rebag, and repack recently harvested seed corn. Workers will work in a produce storage facility adjacent to farmland leased and controlled by fixed-site grower, of which at least 51% of products handled by workers will be grown/produced directly. When needed, workers may be asked to operate a forklift to move the seed corn bags or agricultural products within the produce storage facility.

Seed Corn Harvest Worker - sort harvested corn from shaking machine and rotary belt and throw away bad corn. Work performed on land owned by grower/operator and corn raised by same. Ensure 100% quality to best of ability. Supervisors will provide daily instructions, general supervision, and demonstrations of proper techniques as needed. Workers must comprehend and follow directions, communicate effectively with supervisors, and are expected to develop the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks promptly and proficiently with minimal supervision. Care for and monitor machine speed. Must be able to identify male/ female corn plants. Job requires multi-limb coordination, dexterous hands, arm-hand. Hand weeding: Workers will walk through the corn fields pooling the weeds around the corn plants. Workers who possess a valid driver's license and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor's certificate as required by 29 CFR § 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, or equipment, on company business. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver's license or doctor's certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application. The employer can and will make alternative arrangements for the transportation of workers should the need arise.

Seasonal Warehouse Operators: work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure customer satisfaction by accurately storing seed inventory to customer. Responsibilities include performing work activities safely. Maintaining a neat, clean, and organized work area Workers will perform a variety of tasks related to the harvesting, sorting, and cleaning of corn using both manual labor and mechanized equipment. Primary duties include: Sorting and Quality Control: After being husked by machine, corn ears pass along a conveyor belt where workers are responsible for visually inspecting each ear. Workers must ensure that the corn is clean and free of husks or leaves, and that it matches the correct variety being processed at that time. Any ear that does not meet quality or variety standards must be removed and placed onto a separate conveyor belt designated for rejected products. This task requires continuous attention and focus during long work periods. Workstation Ergonomics: For comfort and efficiency, workers are provided with chairs or stools while stationed at the conveyor belt, as the sorting process involves extended periods of sitting and monitoring. Machine Operation & Monitoring: Assist in operating and monitoring harvest equipment such as shaking machines and rotary belts. Ensure machinery is functioning properly and report any issues. Tasks involve repetitive hand and arm movements. Worksite Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness of all work areas including conveyor lines, equipment zones, and field walkways. Workers are responsible for cleaning and organizing tools, removing plant material, empty husks, trash, and other debris. Proper disposal of rejected corn and waste is required. Farm Maintenance & Support Tasks: Additional duties may include washing harvested corn, removing weeds and debris from the field, assisting with loading/unloading, and performing other general farm tasks as directed. Hours may vary depending on weather and crop conditions.

Seasonal Packaging Operators work closely with the Packaging Supervisor and Plant Operations Manager to ensure that seed packages meet customer requirements. Responsibilities include performing work activities safely. Lifting and stacking materials for extended periods of time. Standing to fill and close packaged product for extended periods of time. Successfully pass the forklift training and receive an operator’s certificate. Operating bagging equipment according to instructions. Ensuring that bag labels are accurate, neat, legible and professional in appearance. Application of appropriate tags and/or labels to seed packages. Thorough cleaning of all equipment to maintain product integrity. Ensuring that seed pallets are neatly stacked and securely wrapped from packaging line; deliver finished seed pallets or boxes to the warehouse. Prepare and clean (if needed) packaging materials to be used according to customer specifications. This would include boxes and paper bags. Maintaining a neat, clean, and organized work area.

2 months corn detasselling experience. All applicants must be able, willing, and qualified to perform the tasks described and be available for the full duration of the job. Must be able to lift 70lbs to shoulder height repetitively throughout the workday.

Must have or be able to successfully pass the forklift training and receive an operator's certificate.

Additional Compensation

Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker employed under this job order, at the company's sole discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to work performance, skill, and tenure.

As required for all workers in Minnesota, hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at the rate of 1.5 times the regular rate of pay.

EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $16.78 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts (Updated 04/07/2026). Required work-related tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.

Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year.
