Job Description

The General Production Worker prepares and processes metal panels for final assembly in a clean, well-organized production facility. This role involves cleaning, labeling, and staging materials, applying insulated foam to assembled panels, loading and unloading panels from curing chambers, and performing quality checks to ensure accuracy and overall product integrity. The position suits individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on skills, and a reliable work ethic who are eager to learn and grow in a light industrial and fabrication environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare panels for final assembly by cleaning surfaces, labeling components, and staging materials according to work instructions.

  • Apply insulated foam to assembled panels using proper techniques and following detailed work instructions.

  • Load and unload panels safely and efficiently from the curing chamber, ensuring correct handling procedures.

  • Inspect panels for defects, dimensional accuracy, and overall quality before they move to the next production station.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.

  • Use hand tools and measuring tools, such as tape measures, to complete tasks accurately and consistently.

  • Read and follow basic blueprints or work diagrams as required for panel preparation and assembly tasks.

  • Assist with general production tasks as needed to keep workflow moving smoothly across the production line.

  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to meet daily production goals and quality standards.

  • Participate in on-the-job training for equipment operation, such as forklifts, rigging, and overhead cranes, as provided by the employer.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude and strong hands-on skills for working with tools, materials, and production equipment.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions accurately and consistently.

  • Basic measurement skills, including the ability to read and use a tape measure.

  • Attention to detail for identifying defects and ensuring the accuracy and quality of panels.

  • Reliable, steady work habits and a strong work ethic.

  • Comfort working in a production, light industrial, fabrication, or sheet metal environment.

  • Ability to work safely and maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining consistency and quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Open to candidates directly from school whose focus was on trades such as HVAC, pipe fitting, electrical, fabrication, or welding.

  • Experience or training in welding, including working with steel, is beneficial for advancement into welder-focused tasks.

  • Familiarity with blueprints or basic mechanical drawings is an asset.

  • Experience in production, light industry, fabrication, sheet metal, or fitting is advantageous.

  • Strong desire to learn new skills and participate in company-provided training programs.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.

  • For welder-focused roles, willingness to complete an onsite welding exam administered by company leadership, with same-day assessment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, 66,500-square-foot production facility designed to support efficient and safe workflows. The atmosphere on the production floor is friendly and welcoming, with music allowed and encouraged to create an enjoyable workday. The site includes a cafeteria with vending machines and concession areas for convenient breaks and meals. All tools required for the job are provided by the employer, and employees are expected to use company-provided tools rather than bringing their own. The employer supplies all required personal protective equipment except safety shoes, which employees provide themselves. The environment focuses on fabrication, light industry, and sheet metal work, with opportunities to train on equipment such as forklifts, rigging systems, and overhead cranes as part of daily operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Randolph, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
