The ideal candidate will have applied SPC experience, the ability to operate independently, and comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to analyze manufacturing data, identify process variations, and implement preventive corrective actions.

  • Interpret control charts, standard deviation, and process capability (Cp/Cpk) to center processes and minimize defects.

  • Move quality efforts upstream by identifying trends early rather than reacting to escapes.

  • Own and maintain customer RAILs, participating in daily customer-facing meetings.

  • Respond promptly to quality concerns, documentation requests, and defect issues.

  • Use SPC and process improvements to reduce Defective Parts Per Million (DPPM) and enhance monthly customer report cards.

  • Review and support First Article Inspections and GD&T callouts.

  • Collaborate with inspection teams to resolve dimensional issues and nonconformances.

  • Support inspection planning and controls as issues are identified.

  • Engage suppliers on observed failures or outages, partnering with Purchasing to address supplier quality issues.

  • Influence suppliers to implement corrective actions.

  • Coordinate internal inspection and containment activities as needed.

  • Participate in daily cross-functional communication meetings.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer.

  • Strong, hands-on SPC experience.

  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), ERP systems, and supplier quality management.

  • Strong skills in root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in the medical device, automotive, hydraulics, or similar precision manufacturing industry.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or active application of DMAIC tools.

  • Experience in reducing DPPM or similar customer quality metrics.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing techniques.
