Senior Staff Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant supports and oversees day‑to‑day accounting operations using a cloud‑based ERP system. This role is responsible for general ledger management, financial reporting, month‑end close, and mentoring junior accounting staff. The ideal candidate has strong GAAP knowledge, ERP experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments

  • Lead month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger, bank accounts, accruals, and prepaids

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets

  • Prepare internal and external financial statements and management reports

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Develop and improve accounting procedures and ERP processes

  • Train, mentor, and review work of Staff and Junior Accountants

  • Serve as escalation point for complex accounting issues

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred)

  • 6+ years of accounting experience

  • Strong GAAP and general ledger experience

  • Proficiency with cloud‑based ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite a plus)

  • Advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Government contracting experience

  • ERP system implementation or optimization experience

  • Audit and compliance support experience

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance is required, Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.

  • Must possess 6+ years of experience in accounting or finance.

  • Government Contract experience is a plus.

  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite skills with high functioning level of spreadsheets and must be able to excel in the comprehension and functionality of a Financial System based ERP software.

  • Oracle NetSuite experience is a plus.

  • Must possess strong technical background in the area specified, strong analytical skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
