Job Description

We are actively seeking a talented Senior Environmental Project Manager / Client Account Manager with a specialized focus on rail and remediation projects. You will lead and manage programs that support rail infrastructure and complex remediation efforts, delivering positive community impact through rewarding projects within our Environmental practice.

This is a hybrid position (office/remote). You will bring deep regulatory and client-engagement experience on complex rail and remediation sites, demonstrate strong investigation and remediation execution, and uphold a rigorous health and safety culture. You communicate clearly, lead high-performance teams, and operate independently with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Lead rail-focused environmental and remediation projects across a national footprint, establishing clear project objectives, scope, and success criteria.

  • Apply advanced investigation and remediation strategies (e.g., risk-based corrective action, remedy selection, optimization) for rail infrastructure and impacted sites.

  • Engage proactively with rail and remediation clients to align needs with our capabilities and expand services.

  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and change control to achieve predictable outcomes and planned margins.

  • Provide technical oversight and quality control from planning through closeout, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal requirements.

  • Anticipate and allocate resources effectively to meet client and program milestones.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks, including rail corridor constraints, stakeholder interfaces, and permitting timelines.

  • Communicate progress, strategy, and adjustments to internal/external stakeholders, including rail owners/operators and public agencies.

  • Close projects successfully with strong client satisfaction and lessons‑learned capture.

Client Account Management

  • Serve as primary point of contact for key rail and remediation accounts; building trust and long-term partnerships.

  • Develop and execute account plans that improve satisfaction, retention, and market share.

  • Coordinate cross-discipline delivery (environmental, planning, engineering, construction services) to provide integrated solutions.

  • Identify growth opportunities and lead strategic pursuits in rail markets across the US.

  • Prepare and present proposals, estimates, and updates with clear value propositions and risk/assumption transparency.

  • Gather and act on client feedback to continually elevate service quality and outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field AND 6+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience).

  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.

  • Ability to pass background check and MVR check; valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development with a focus on rail infrastructure and contaminated sites.

  • Proven track record planning and scheduling resources to deliver on time and within budget.

  • Strong business development acumen in the rail and remediation sectors, including capture planning and client account growth

  • PMP certification preferred.

  • Experience negotiating with regulators and stakeholders to achieve compliant, pragmatic outcomes for rail‑related remediation and environmental compliance.

  • Excellent communication, writing, and reporting skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.

  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders for rail and remediation projects

Health, Safety & Travel

  • Champion a strong safety culture; lead by example in planning and field execution.

  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, field oversight, and stakeholder engagement.

Additional Information

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $100000 to $140000.
