Job Summary
Environmental Specialties is seeking an experienced Project Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate activities related to the construction and maintenance of environmental chambers and associated systems. This role oversees project organization, scheduling, budgeting, and execution from concept through completion. The Project Manager must be able to support field personnel, manage subcontractor relationships, resolve issues proactively, and maintain full financial oversight of the project.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Review incoming bids and customer worksheets to determine workload priority.
Drive project flow from inception through closeout.
Obtain and review contract and bid documents to ensure complete project turnover.
Conduct site walkthroughs.
Ensure efficient project document control (insurance, bonding, permits, RFIs, submittals, change orders, correspondence, etc.).
Coordinate with owners, contractors, supervisors, and design professionals to resolve project or construction issues.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet project deadlines.
Prepare and submit budgets, progress reports, and cost‑tracking documentation.
Monitor project compliance with building codes, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
Select subcontractors and equipment suppliers in collaboration with engineering, estimating, and purchasing.
Verify correct drawings are distributed to field teams.
Create schedule of values and billing formats per contract requirements.
Develop project schedules, including milestones, delivery dates, and subcontractor activities.
Request purchase orders for major equipment and subcontractors with accurate shipping and delivery details.
Facilitate material takeoffs with the trade foreman.
Lead and participate in project meetings (internal and external) to review schedules, manpower, risks, and progress.
Support accounting with monthly billings, collections, and outstanding receivables.
Ensure jobsite safety and partner with foremen on toolbox talks and weekly walkthroughs.
Gather change‑order information and collaborate with estimating on pricing; finalize COs to maximize project profitability.
Prevent unauthorized work from starting prior to approval or notice to proceed.
Assist field personnel with project closeout requirements.
Collect as‑built information and coordinate CAD updates with engineering.
Escalate critical issues to the Division Manager/Project Executive with recommended solutions.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety programs.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of commercial construction project management experience, preferably in the mechanical industry.
High School diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred (Master’s degree a plus).
Strong understanding of construction practices, contract documentation, and industry regulations.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local guidelines.
Physical Demands
Daily office based work with intermittent travel to industrial job sites that could require frequent standing/ walking and some climbing.
Work Environment
Office environment with intermittent exposure to industrial construction sites
