Job Title: Automation Engineer Consultant

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer Consultant to join our Capital Project Automation Delivery Team. The role involves designing, configuring, integrating, commissioning, and troubleshooting plant control systems within a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. You will play a crucial role in the qualification of expansions to the Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS), Building Automation Systems, and Purified Water Distribution automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, integrate, and commission plant control systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the automation systems.

  • Support the qualification and expansion of Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS), Building Automation Systems, and Purified Water Distribution automation.

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Facilities, CQV, IT, Quality, OEMs, and system integrators.

  • Participate in design reviews, system implementation, testing, and qualification activities.

  • Ensure compliance with GMP standards, data integrity, and site automation standards.

  • Deliver foundational systems critical to the project's success with a focus on right-first-time delivery.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field with at least eight years of experience, or a master’s degree with six years of direct experience in a Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical GMP environment.

  • Proficient in Siemens control systems.

  • Proficient in programming for Building Automation Systems, EMS, and Utilities Automation Systems.

  • Experience writing and executing Configuration Specifications (CS), Functional Risk Assessments (FRAs), Automation Installation Qualification (AIQ), Automation Operational Qualification (AOQ), Requirement Traceability Matrices (RTM), and Qualification Summary Reports (QASR).

  • Understanding of the project lifecycle from conceptual design through startup, commissioning, and qualification.

  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation, process equipment, and control panels.

  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, electrical schematics, and M/P diagrams.

  • Ability to develop, review, and edit logic narratives and logic charts.

  • Develop and execute testing protocols for PCS/Facilities & Utilities.

  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience in programming PLCs, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment

Work within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical plant environment, adhering to strict industry standards and protocols.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Rahway, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
