An Affirmative Action Employer and Equal Opportunity Employer OPENING DATE: 3/17/2026 PAY GRADE: 59 CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled SALARY: $30,703-$38,306 + Benefits JOB DESCRIPTION: Employees in this position performs a variety of office tasks in support of administrative, program or technical operations in the Child Support Unit. Will receipt child support payments (cash, checks, etc.) and accurately update accounts for monies received. Responsible for unit clerical duties, including developing and maintaining filing systems, researching and sorting of records, reports and filing activities, public contact, knowledge and use of office equipment systems and technology, writing correspondence, preparing spreadsheets, inputting data, and assisting caseworkers with court preparations, filing and other duties assigned by supervisor. Performance of office support tasks that involve several steps and require appropriate action within procedural and operational guidelines. Work involves providing assistance to staff, clients, other organizational units and the public in resolving problems or inquiries regarding services provided. Employee in this position may also interview clients and gather information necessary to process applications. Significant knowledge of office or work unit's policies and procedures is essential in processing information or documents involving program functions and services. Several software programs may be used to enter, retrieve, verify, update, research, and/or authorize actions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. Proper use of grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence, reports and other materials. Ability to independently and properly compose and format materials within established guidelines. Ability to record, compile, summarize, and perform basic analysis of narrative and numerical materials. Ability to learn and independently apply laws, departmental rules and regulations. Ability to learn office process and procedures and apply this knowledge in problem-solving and responding to questions and inquiries. Strong computer skills are needed. Ability to use judgment in coordinating and monitoring office procedures and workflow. Ability to use courtesy and tact in performing public contact and communication duties that may be sensitive in nature. Ability to schedule and coordinate a variety of appointments, meetings and/or conferences. May require ability to supervise or coordinate the work of other staff, student workers or volunteers. Mobility to work in a typical office setting which will entail sitting for extended periods of time, able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, able to see/read printed materials or materials on a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate over the telephone and in person. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
