HOKE COUNTY HOKE AREA TRANSIT SERVICE : LEAD DRIVER in Raeford, North Carolina
Description of Position:
A Lead Transit Driver manages a group of transit drivers, and may also drive and deliver passengers o. They ensure that drivers are performing their jobs safely and efficiently. The Lead Transit Driver Works for the Director of Hoke Area Transit and Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Work involves limited maneuvering of the vehicle. Work requires continued traffic monitoring, constant contact with the steering mechanism, and hand and eye coordination. The operation of the vehicle is done independently and governed by traffic rules and regulations. Work is assigned by verbal command; or in written form, through passenger lists and addresses, or letters. Work is closely reviewed to determine the timeliness of reaching destinations, the accuracy of records, and the condition of the vehicle by inspecting the vehicle, and reading of operational records. Work requires the ability to diagnose weather conditions such as rain, sleet, or snow; judge traffic level and routes; and evaluate road conditions such as winding roads or narrowness to determine drivability, rate of speed, ability to maneuver, and braking ability. Must have the ability to read and write. Must be able to move up to 600 lbs. assisting with wheelchairs and working with lifts.
Other:
Must meet all physical requirements as determined by the Department of Transportation guidelines - (Vision, Hearing, Motor Skills, etc.) The examination will be required if selected for employment. Must be able to pass any certifications and training requirements as a condition of continued employment if selected for the position. Safety Sensitive position.
Minimum Training and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. 5 Years of supervisory experience transit industry, customer service, and excellent communication skills. NC CDL required.
Salary:
Grade 62 ($35,549 - $40, 220) + Benefits
