Amazon Data Center Project Manager, Amazon Infrastructure Services, Critical Projects Implementation in Queretaro, Mexico

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services designs, builds, and operates all AWS global infrastructure—the foundation that keeps the cloud running. We manage data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling that ensure customers have continuous access to innovation.

The Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team manages construction and infrastructure improvement projects within operational data centers globally, optimizing space, power, and cooling utilization.

We're seeking a Data Center Project Manager to oversee technical projects across electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural disciplines. You'll identify improvements, develop innovative solutions, and manage project execution from start to finish. This role requires both independent work and cross-functional collaboration on projects involving electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation systems.

A day in the life

Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity availability and safety focusing on the actions that are most impactful. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of construction or project management experience

  • 3+ years experience managing projects in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure in an operational space. Comparable critical infrastructure experience is defined as a facility that includes a 24/7 emergency backup system, manufacturing facility (semiconductor, auto, medical equipment or Clean rooms), Mass Transportation (freight or passenger rail), Oil and Gas, Utility, Hospitals or similar industry

  • 3+ years in on-site construction trades (mechanical, electrical, general) Vendor Management

  • Pro-efficient in English

  • Position requires 50-75% travel between sites in Queretaro, Mexico (QRO)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

  • 3+ years experience in the technical field of power distribution and data center mechanical cooling systems

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, incorporate feedback, and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
