Proposed Schedule: 16-32 hours per pay period. Shifts will vary.
Position Summary
The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director in the delivery of the school based preventative oral health services. When not providing supportive service for direct care will provide care management to students identified as needing additional dental care. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates an understanding of the boundaries of the position
Incorporates the Network’s mission, values and philosophy in decisions behaviors and actions
Demonstrates initiative and seeks supervisory counsel when appropriate
Assist the clinical Dental Hygienist in the school based dental program
Record clinical data and complete necessary forms and treatment logs as dictated by the Dental Hygienist
Assist Dental Hygienist in administrative duties or projects as the program designates
Keep accurate and complete patient/student records
Maintain all infection control and equipment logs
Escort students to and from treatment area in school
Daily schedule development and review with school staff
Order supplies and ensure current maintenance of equipment
Work directly with all program staff on all issues related to the school based program
Participate in all required employee trainings
Transport and set up dental equipment at each work site
Limited chairside assisting
On site Infection Control
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the essential functions:
High School Diploma or GED
Current BLS certification
Minimum of one-year experience in a program working with children
Working knowledge of medical documents
Knowledge of processes and workflows
Strong organizational skills
Skill in defusing tense situations through diplomatic problem-solving
Ability to establish/maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people
Ability to interact positively with individuals of multiple ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds
Ability to communicate well with patients, parents, teachers and school staff
Ability to follow policies and procedures
Must have a valid driver license and be able to travel throughout the Network. Reliable transportation to designated work sites
Work schedule flexibility (possible evening education sessions)
The pay rate for this position is $19.89/hour.
