College Laboratory Technician - Engineering Technology GENERAL DUTIES Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework. Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities Manages equipment and materials inventories. Job Title Name: College Laboratory Technician CONTRACT TITLE College Laboratory Technician FLSA Non-exempt MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Qualifications include: Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot mechanical engineering laboratory equipment, including manual and CNC machinery such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, band saws, shapers, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). Experience supporting CNC machining processes, including machine setup, G-code programming, troubleshooting, and operation of related equipment such as laser engravers and 3D printers. Experience using industry-standard software such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, Predator, or similar CAD/CAM platforms for design, modeling, and manufacturing support. Ability to assist faculty and students in laboratory environments, including preparing experiments, supporting hands-on learning activities, and providing technical guidance on the proper use of equipment and materials. Understanding laboratory safety procedures and the ability to maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment consistent with institutional and industry standards. Experience maintaining equipment usage logs, preventive maintenance schedules, calibration records, laboratory documentation, and inventory tracking systems. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students and to support instructional activities in a dynamic academic environment. COMPENSATION $53,728 - $63,459 Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
