Job Title: Graduate Assistant Coach for Strength and Conditioning

Job Description:
The graduate assistant works in conjunction with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in all aspects related to the operation of the strength program. In absence of the Head Coach, the Graduate Assistant assumes full responsibility for the team.
Responsibilities for Graduate Assistant Coaching Position :
Specific Responsibilities:
Include, but are not limited to:
Effectively program and coach programs to assigned teams and athletes
Collaboration with coaches, sports medicine staff and administrative staff
Data collection including but not limited to Wellness surveys, and performance testing
Uphold the cleanliness of environment, and training facilities
Assist athletics department with events, games, and any other activities necessary
Participate in continuing education offered by strength and conditioning organizations
Motivate and effectively communicate with a variety of teams and athletes
Duties/ Additional Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with all University, Conference, and NCAA rules and bylaws
Assist with Game Operation and Game Management as needed
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Associate Vice President of Athletics and Recreation
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must hav e sport specific knowledge
Previous recruiting and coaching experience
Ability to perform sport specific drills, demonstrate activities, and setup sport specific training aids/facility
Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as needed for competitions and recruiting
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with student athletes, coaches, campus community, and alumni.
Time management skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Basic video knowledge preferred
Understand and monitor the teams’ social media account
Understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of Manhattanville University
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Collegiate or professional playing experience
Valid US Driver’s License
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
CPR/First Aid/AED certification required
SCCC and/or CSCS certification required or scheduled test date
Admission to Manhattanville University ’s graduate program
The desire to be a strength and conditioning coach or related field
Experience programming and coaching athletes of all ages
Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required
Physical Requirements:
Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects.
Organizing , transporting, and setting up team specific training aids and facility maintenance
Salary:
$5,000 Stipend paid over 10 months
Tuition Remission (9 credits per semester)
Subject to maintaining a 3.0 GPA each semester for a maximum of four academic semesters.
Summer classes are subject to approval
On-Campus Housing (dorm style only; single room not an option)
Limited Meal Plan
Hours Expectation:
P art -time, average load of 20 hours per week over the duration of the appointment period
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights and weekends .
