Advanced Projects VECE Systems Engineer – Process Automation (PA / HPS)
Job Summary
This position provides an exciting and challenging opportunity to advance your Engineering career within the VECE COE Organization of Honeywell. Advanced Projects VECE Systems Engineer is responsible for leading and driving system level Value Engineering and Component Engineering initiatives across project engineering side of Process Automation (PA / HPS) portfolios. This role owns end‑to‑end VE/CE projects , drives architecture and supplier changes , and acts as a technical authority for cost optimization in PA systems while protecting compliance, safety, and customer commitments.
This position is expected to operate with high autonomy and influence across Engineering, ISC, Manufacturing, and Suppliers. Good communication and negotiation skills are required daily basis in connection with enablers involved in these projects – Engineering teams, ISC, Manufacturing site, Suppliers, Third party sub-contractors, Installation and commissioning Engineers and contractors, System integrators.
Key Responsibilities
Projects VE / CE Execution
Lead VE/CE projects for PA system‑level offerings (Experion PKS, cabinets, control platforms, networking, I/O, RTU and related system hardware) from project engineering side.
Identify cost‑out opportunities across:
System architecture
Cabinets and enclosure platforms
Electrical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies
Third‑party hardware and supplier components
Develop and execute VE/CE project charters including scope, baseline cost, savings potential, risks, and mitigation.
Drive projects through ideation → feasibility → implementation → validation → closure.
System Engineering & Architecture
Analyze PA system designs, block diagrams, BOMs, and drawings to identify:
Redundancy reduction
Design simplification
Standardization and reuse
Make‑vs‑Buy opportunities
Support architecture evolution initiatives (e.g., platform consolidation, modular designs, common sub‑systems).
Ensure VE/CE changes comply with PA system requirements, safety standards, certifications (IECEx, ATEX, CSA, UL), and customer specs.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with:
Project Engineering & Proposal teams during execution and bid support
Manufacturing sites (e.g., cabinet factories, PA assembly sites)
ISC / Sourcing on supplier changes, negotiations, and dual sourcing
Quality & Certification teams for impact assessment
Support BAE / VECE ideation workshops and factory productivity initiatives.
Financial & Productivity Ownership
Deliver quantified savings aligned with PA VE/CE productivity goals (DM and Non‑DM) for project engineering side.
Identify new opportunities and new policy identification for Pre and post award stages.
Build business cases including NRE, ROI, payback, and risk assessment.
Track and report projects in approved VECE tools and governance mechanisms.
Support AOP, STRAP, and pipeline planning for PA VE/CE initiatives.
Governance, Documentation & Reviews
Prepare and present VE/CE proposals at system, GBE, or COE reviews.
Maintain required technical documentation:
Design changes
Cost analyses
Supplier comparisons
Risk and compliance assessments
Support audits, lessons learned, and best‑practice standardization.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering .
8–12+ years experience in process Automation systems, control engineering, or industrial automation .
Strong experience with system‑level design and cost ownership .
Proven track record of delivering VE/CE or cost‑optimization projects .
Preferred
Strong knowledge in PA project engineering process, Experion PKS or similar DCS platforms .
Strong knowledge of certification‑driven system environments .
Experience working with global manufacturing sites and suppliers.
Mentoring or technical leadership experience.
