IBM Senior Engineering Manager - Agentic Vault in Pune, India

Your role and responsibilities

As a Sr. Engineer II, you will be the senior technical and organizational lead for the Agentic Vault initiative in India. This initiative will evolve our flagship security product to enable our customers to use agents securely at scale. In this critical role, you will serve as the primary architect for your workstream while acting as the Engineering Manager for the local team. You will collaborate closely with the senior leadership team and your counterpart US engineering team to deliver a unified global vision.

Strategic Technical Leadership: Provide technical and thought leadership to define Agentic Vault. You will partner with US-based Technical Leads to ensure architectural alignment and a cohesive global codebase.

Site & People Management: Act as the primary Engineering Manager for the India-based team. You will handle end-to-end people operations, including hiring, performance management, career development, and fostering a high-performance engineering culture in a standalone environment.

Cross-Geography Collaboration: Bridge the gap between the India team and US leadership. You will navigate time zones and cultural nuances to ensure the India squad is deeply integrated into the broader product strategy and technical roadmap.

Hands-on Engineering: Maintain a high level of individual contribution. You will design, code, and review mission-critical components of the Agentic Control Plane, setting the gold standard for code quality and security for your team.

Stakeholder Management: Represent the India engineering organization in high-level discussions with the Director of Engineering, Product Management, and Senior Leadership, providing visibility into local progress and technical challenges.

Required technical and professional expertise

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Autonomous Systems Experience: Familiarity with the security challenges inherent in AI agent orchestration, LLM-based workflows, or autonomous robotic process automation (RPA).

Dynamic Governance: Background in building automated policy-as-code engines or real-time remediation systems that respond to behavioral anomalies.

Hardware-Rooted Security: Conceptual or practical knowledge of hardware-backed trust anchors, such as Trusted Platform Modules (TPM) or Secure Enclaves, for workload attestation.

Ecosystem Influence: Previous experience engaging with open-source security communities or standards bodies to help shape the future of digital identity.
