As Solution Architect - Data Backbone (m/f/d) you are the architect of a unified data platform that transforms real-time site, sensor, and safety data into a consistent, trustworthy set of data products. Your work directly accelerates our commitment to Net-Zero goals and evolves safety practices from reactive reporting to predictive prevention, shaping a sustainable future for patients worldwide.

You will lead a cross-functional team within the Site, SHE & Sustainability area, managing a technology stack that supports global sites from Mannheim to San Francisco.
The Opportunity:
You will drive the overarching architectural design of the backend data platform, ensuring a unified and scalable data foundation.
Design platform-agnostic architectures that separate conceptual design from physical implementation to prevent vendor lock-in.
Strategically select technologies for specific workloads, such as Talend or custom Python, while operating within RDT platform frameworks.
Lead the design of ETL processes for the data warehouse while adhering strictly to data mesh principles and global compliance standards.
Structure and optimize backend data layers to ensure high-performance consumption for visualization tools like Tableau and Streamlit.
Engineer highly curated data layers specifically optimized for advanced AI, machine learning, and LLM workloads.
Establish and enforce enterprise-wide data security standards, governance protocols, and robust CI/CD pipelines for platform stability.
Act as a technical mentor to engineers, elevating the standards of the data engineering team and fostering a culture of excellence.
Who you are:
You are educated to a University degree level (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
Possess 8+ years of professional experience in data architecture, with a deep expertise in designing both batch and real-time streaming pipelines.
Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Snowflake, specifically focusing on architecture design, cost optimization, and performance tuning.
Exhibit proven proficiency in utilizing core AWS services, including Lambda for serverless compute and S3 for scalable storage.
Have extensive hands-on experience implementing scalable enterprise data models using Data Vault 2.0 and Data Mesh principles.
Show a strong command of data orchestration and transformation best practices, with heavy experience utilizing dbt for reliable modeling.
Prove exceptional communication and negotiation skills to bridge technical requirements with business criticality across RDT platform teams.
