Job Summary:

The Special projects Engineering Intern will assist in the design, development, validation, and documentation of Predictive Emissions Monitoring Systems (PEMS) for combustion and industrial process units. The role involves working closely with senior process and control engineers to build and refine PEMS models for pollutants and similar emission and energy management projects

The intern will contribute to data handling, model development, statistical analysis, and technical documentation, while also supporting regulatory research and preparing technical presentations. This position requires strong analytical skills, interest in emissions and process engineering, and the ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The position is responsible for Engineering and project activities.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing historical process and emissions data from, historians, where available in excel format

  • Support development and tuning of data‑driven or first‑principles PEMS models (e.g., NOx, SO2, CO, CO2, O2) under guidance of senior engineers.​

  • Perform basic statistical analyses, correlations, and model performance checks; prepare plots and dashboards to visualize model accuracy and drift.

  • Assist in documenting assumptions, data sets, configuration, and change logs in accordance with internal QA procedures and regulatory expectations.

  • Conduct literature and regulatory checks (e.g., local air regulations, EPA-style guidance) for emission factors, methodologies, and reporting requirements.

  • Prepare presentation slides, one‑page summaries, and technical notes for internal reviews, client meetings, and training sessions.

  • Documentation

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of architectures, configurations, data flows, scripting logic, namespaces, and integration topologies for both platformsWork closely with the Proposal lead and Sales to understand the customer requirements and prepare the proposal accordingly.

Quality Control & Assurance

  • Implementation of EEEC IMS processes/documentation as & when required throughout the project.

  • Adopts to World Area quality requirements and Customer’s regulatory guidelines.

  • Practices and promotes First time right approach.

  • Strictly follows GDP (Good Documentation Practices).

Other Duties

  • Perform other additional specific duties, when requested by the business. These will, typically, be strategic in nature but could potentially be anything that the post holder is suitably qualified and experienced to undertake. These duties may be assigned to the person under guidance of a supervisor.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Final year chemical engineering student

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Mass & Heat Balance

  • Aspen Simulation(Hysys or Plus)

Excel and analytics

  • Strong excel skills

  • Reading PFD & P & IDs

  • Understanding process details from documents

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering

  • Effective written and verbal communicator.

  • Familiarity with excel, scripting.

  • Working knowledge of at least one data/analytics tool: Python, MATLAB, R, or advanced Excel (pivot tables, basic scripting, charts).

  • Basic understanding of regression, correlations, or other simple modeling techniques.

  • Exposure to power plants, refineries, gas turbines, boilers, or similar process facilities through coursework, projects, or internships.
