Job Description

We are looking for a Field Application Engineer to join our Protocol Solutions Group Team based in Pune, India.

This exciting opportunity will typically expose and involve the candidate in cutting edge product and standards development for new products and technology years before it reaches the consumer market. The role will primarily support Teledyne LeCroy’s customers who are using Teledyne’s leading-edge test and measurement products for testing USB Type-C and Power Delivery. The candidate will work with many teams including marketing, sales, engineering, and validation as required. Through hands-on learning, studying technical specifications, internal training and mentoring, we will aim to develop your expertise to become one of the elite gurus in USB protocols and Teledyne LeCroy test instruments.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to customers using Teledyne LeCroy test and measurement equipment.

  • Near real-time for India based customers; remote or onsite as needed internationally

  • Assist customers with pre- and post-sales technical support queries via email, phone, and on-site troubleshooting.

  • Utilize understanding of protocols and Teledyne LeCroy products to help debug real-world problems.

  • Engage in USB Implementer’s Forum (USB-IF) and DisplayPort Alternate Mode Compliance Working Group calls and testing events.

  • Provide product demonstrations and protocol training webinars.

  • Generate and review product documentation for customer use-cases.

  • Contribute to sales presentations, showcasing product technical features and processes.

  • Build lasting customer relationships to gain constructive product feedback for improving user experiences.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Validation teams to recreate customer test environments for reproducing and troubleshooting issues found in the field.

  • Document and communicate customer requirements with Engineering to develop customized solutions.

  • Gather field data, document findings, and prepare detailed reports on project status, technical issues, and corrective actions.

  • Work within and adhere to organizational and government trade compliance policies and practices.

Preferred candidates would have:

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) in English.

  • Strong analytical and proactive problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail while performing daily tasks such as documenting, troubleshooting and communicating.

  • Ability to obtain necessary documentation to travel domestically and internationally for customer visits and industry events.

  • Education level: Degree or higher: BSEE/BSCS, bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electronics / electrical engineering / relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education and job experience.

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different job sites.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Technical customer support and/or B2B sales experience.

  • Experience in basic coding (such as Python, C# or TCL) for scripting automated software.

Ideal additional skills/background:

  • Knowledge and debug experience in various USB generations, protocols and associated standards.

  • USB 2.0, 3.1

  • USB Type-C

  • Power Delivery (2, 3)

  • Thunderbolt (4, 5)

  • DisplayPort Alternate Mode and Tunneled DisplayPort

  • Hub, Cable, Host and Peripheral USB products

  • Comfortable interfacing with customers and being part of the Sales process face-to-face or remotely.

  • Basic understanding of computer networking configurations and protocols.

  • Experience using test instruments (e.g. compliance testers, packet sniffers, signal generators/analyzers).

  • USB Standards Compliance or Validation Testing experience.

  • Strong familiarity with Windows and Mac operating environment.

  • Foreign language skills ideal but not required.

  • Good understanding of Sales and product development cycles, as part of the customer decision-making process.

  • Experience in debugging other Serial-based protocols and interfaces (such as Bluetooth, RS-232, UART and SPI)
