Position Details:

 

The Opportunity:

 

You'll take the lead in post-award grant and contract accounting-making sure every dollar is spent in line with GAAP standards and sponsor requirements. Your mission is to ensure expenses are allowable, allocable, reasonable, and consistent so research projects run smoothly and compliantly.

 

As a senior specialist, you'll manage a complex portfolio of awards that keeps things interesting. You'll work with:

 

• Sponsors with unique terms and conditions

• Intricate budgets, including significant cost share

• Cross-functional collaborations, Centers, and Institutes

• Programs with high audit visibility or special compliance rules (think Salary Cap)

• Departments with a broad mix of awards

 

You'll bring your advanced knowledge and experience to solve tough problems independently. You'll design processes, create solutions, and make decisions that have a broad impact across teams. In short, you'll be the go-to expert when things get complex.

 

Additional Information:

 

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

 

Monthly Salary: $5,398 to $7,254 | Range 57 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with https://app.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=357-28.

 

In accordance with https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

 

• A Bachelor's degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience.

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency level with Microsoft software programs such as Outlook, Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint to create spreadsheets, graphs, charts and reports, prepare presentations, conduct data analysis and manage information efficiently.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Experience with the enterprise resource planning system Workday.

• Knowledge of or experience with OFM accounting regulations (i.e. Uniform Guidance).

• Knowledge of or experience with the WSU UPPM.
