Key Responsibilities
Lead the research and development of ceramic materials, covering synthesis, processing, and performance improvement.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary internal teams, as well as with global research groups, new business development team, academic partners, and industry experts in ceramics.
Propose, design, and execute laboratory and pilot-scale experiments to validate hypotheses and drive innovative ceramic solutions.
Analyze experimental data using advanced statistical and materials characterization techniques to understand structure-property relationships in ceramics.
Develop a fundamental and applied understanding of ceramic material formulation, microstructure control, and processing parameters to enhance key mechanical, physical and optical properties.
Troubleshoot technical issues by integrating knowledge from ceramic chemistry, physics, and engineering, driving problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Support technology innovation initiatives aimed at enabling cost-effective and scalable production of advanced ceramics with improved attributes.
Balance hands-on laboratory work with technical leadership tasks, including providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Document experimental results, process development efforts, and technology transfers thoroughly to ensure knowledge retention and seamless communication.
Actively contribute to intellectual property generation by filing patents and writing internal reports related to novel ceramic compositions, processes, or applications.
Experiences/Education - Required
MS or PhD in materials, majored in ceramic or inorganic materials
5 years of new process/product development experience
Required Skills
Proven ability to build and maintain strong connections with academic institutions and the ceramic industry.
Proficiency in ceramic materials science and engineering, with a strong foundation in crystallography, phase diagrams, and ceramic-specific processing techniques.
Hands-on experience with sintering, densification, and grain growth, as well as experience in analyzing and optimizing microstructural features for targeted properties.
Expertise in advanced ceramic processing methods including forming and sintering.
Be familiar with various characterization tools, including XRD, SEM, TEM, and thermal analysis, as applied to ceramics.
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data sets to solve material challenges and improve the performance and reliability of ceramic components in diverse applications.
