Koniag Government Services Janitor III in Pryor, Montana

Koniag Advisory and Business Solutions, LLC a Koniag Government Services company , is seeking a Janitor III to support KABS and our government customer in Pryor, MT.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Performs cleaning of all patient treatment rooms, exam rooms, laboratory areas and ensures that all are disinfected, sanitized or decontaminated and free from pathogenic bacteria and infectious waste. Utilizes antibacterial chemicals, extremely strong cleaning solutions or use of special cleaning agents and maintains a daily log or check sheet for exam rooms requiring special cleaning methods or JCAHO infection control procedures.

  • Scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors using heavy (industrial type) powered scrubbers and buffers.

  • Washes walls, using powered wall washing machine. Vacuum cleans rugs using heavy (industrial type) vacuum cleaners; adjust, cleans and oils these machines and changes brushes, roller, buffers and other attachments.

  • Performs cleaning of all patient treatment rooms, exam rooms, and laboratory areas, and ensure that all are disinfected, sanitized or decontaminated and free from pathogenic bacteria and infectious waste.

  • Utilizes antibacterial chemicals, extremely strong cleaning solutions or use of special cleaning agents

  • Maintains a daily log or check sheet for exam rooms requiring special cleaning methods or CMMS/Joint Commission infection control procedures.

  • Periodically inspect all exam rooms, offices, hallways, storage areas or all physical locations within the Health facility to ensure that floors and halls are washed, waxed and polished;

  • Ensures files cabinets, tables, counters, windowsills, light fixtures, and fans are dusted and cleaned;

  • Ensures drinking fountains are clean and ensure that windows, glass partitions and mirrors are clean and spot free

  • Keeps restrooms in clean, orderly and in sanitary condition.

  • Cleans disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, urinals and toilet bowls. ensures that restrooms are supplied with soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, toilet tissue and deodorizers, ensure that all waste cans are emptied.

  • Notes condition of restroom and reports to supervisor broken windows, water leaks, clogged drains and other conditions requiring maintenance.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required plus 3-5 years of progressive supervisory experience.

  • Completion of infection prevention training within onboarding period.

Licenses & Permits — State of Montana:

  • Infectious/regulated medical waste segregation, storage.

  • Chemical safety (SDS access, spill response, dilution stations)

Technology Skills:

  • Use of cleaning validation tools (fluorescent gel, checklists; ATP if utilized by the hospital).

Compliance Requirements:

  • Healthcare standards: Joint Commission Environment of Care (EC) & Infection Control (IC), CMS CoPs, and hospital infection prevention policies.

  • Safety & environmental: OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, PPE, ergonomics; hospital/Tribal policies for regulated medical waste and chemical storage.

  • Infection prevention: Isolation cleaning workflows, terminal cleaning, equipment disinfection, hand hygiene support, and construction/ICRA coordination with Facilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Hospital environment on Tribal lands; frequent work in occupied patient care areas with sensitive situations.

  • Shift work required (days/evenings/nights), rotating weekends/holidays, occasional extended hours for outbreaks, weather impacts, or surge events.

  • Exposure to chemicals, biohazards, and noise; required use of PPE.

  • Regular walking/standing; frequent interaction with patients, families, and clinical staff.

Essential Skills:

  • Communication: Calm, respectful, and concise communication with clinicians, patients, Tribal leadership, and the EVS team.

  • Cultural competence: Demonstrates respect for Tribal customs and community values.

  • Customer service: Maintains a hospitality mindset that supports patient experience (e.g., HCAHPS cleanliness domain).

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing/walking; repetitive reaching, bending, and kneeling; pushing/pulling carts up to 75–100 lbs; lifting up to 35–50 lbs with assistance as needed.

  • Tolerate PPE (gloves, gowns, eye/face protection, respirators as required) and exposure to cleaning agents and biohazards.

  • Ability to respond quickly across campus, including using stairs and navigating confined spaces.
