Provo City is hiring Summer Camp Counselors to assist with recreation program planning and organizing in the Parks and Recreation Department of Provo City Corporation on a part-time seasonal basis. There will be one lead camp counselor, and 4 additional camp counselors hired to fill these positions. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in supporting the recreation program are encouraged to apply.

What is the compensation?

Pay Rate: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour. Payment will be by direct deposit.

What will I do?

  • Plan, organize, and supervise recreation activities associated with the Summer Day Camp program.

  • Supervise youth attending the camp.

  • Operate within the guidelines of budgets.

  • Ensure adherence to operational policies and procedures.

  • Prepare and maintain reports, records, and equipment inventory.

  • Explain and enforce rules and regulations.

  • Assist other staff members and the public as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.

    What requirements do I need to apply?

    Sufficient experience and/or training which would demonstrate an ability to successfully perform the duties of the job.

    What are the hours and duration? Approximately 15-20 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with potentially longer hours on field trip days. Position is needed from June to August 2025.

    What are the physical and environmental factors?

    This is outdoor recreation work requiring lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and possible exposure to adverse weather conditions and high stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.

    What is the selection process?

    Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on April 28, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

    If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
