Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

Join a leading gear and gear-related manufacturing company specializing in critical components for the steel, bridge, aluminum, aggregate, and mining industries. Based in Princeton, Indiana, this role involves the programming, setup, and operation of CNC and manual machine tools, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate CNC and manual machine tools, including Schiess & Hankook brands.

  • Interpret and follow work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials specifications, and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

  • Perform programming on machine tools by entering instructions, setting tools, and calculating requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.

  • Maintain specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements during machining processes such as drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, and facing.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot machine malfunctions.

  • Communicate irregularities and recommendations across shifts through prescribed methods.

  • Properly care for and maintain machine tools, work area, tooling, fixturing, equipment, and supplies.

Essential Skills

  • Strong understanding of machining, CNC, lathe, milling, gear cutting, and gear grinding machines.

  • College Level Certificate in CNC Machining.

  • Significant experience with CNC machine work.

  • Ability to perform basic math, geometry, and trigonometry calculations.

  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and engineering plans.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with horizontal or vertical boring mills.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in CNC or Precision Machining.

  • Willingness to learn and train for up to 2 years due to niche machining and diverse machines, including German brands.

Work Environment

Work in a large machine shop environment where steel-toed boots are required. Jeans and t-shirts are acceptable attire, though uniform services are available for purchase. The role requires physical presence on-site during working hours and includes tasks such as standing, lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy objects. Positions available are 2nd/3rd shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $56160.00 - $62400.00/yr.
