The remit of the Director, Clinical & Medical Strategic Planning & Management is to maximize productivity and efficiency of team members across Endocrine & Rare Disease Medical Sciences (ERDMS) by providing structure, visibility, and decision-making support. As a member of the ERDMS leadership team, this team member will facilitate efforts in the design and execution of clinical development plans, and medical evidence generation plans, in alignment with Ascendis Pharma’s purpose, values, vision, and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate the formulation of clinical development and medical evidence generation plans
Ensure strategic alignment with goals and priorities of the Ascendis organization
Provide a comprehensive view of endocrine portfolio, including a broad perspective of the pipeline and life cycle management activities
Create roadmaps and ensure they are contemporary and visible
Balance dependencies
Manage competing demands for resources
Continuously evaluate performance across the portfolio and programs
Facilitate execution of the plans to generate impactful evidence
Support ERDMS teams by maintaining clarity of priorities e.g. when selecting endpoints
Support teams in making informed decisions, which have been discussed cross-functionally
Assist teams in finding time and space to come together in effective ways
Foster readiness (colleagues come prepared) and productive collaboration
Promote ways of working that keep the teams organized, and thus permit subject matter experts the time to think and strategize
Promote communication and information-sharing
Oversee collaboration within and across functions
Schedule discussions for interpreting data
Plan the flow of data presentations
Create tools and visuals for internal sharing of important clinical & medical messages and narratives
Cultivate a culture of proactivity i.e. help teams “see beyond the horizon”
Promote a sense of accountability
Lay strong foundations for the organization’s short- and long-term successes
Requirements
Outstanding stakeholder engagement (e.g. with Innovation & Research, Non-Clinical & Bioanalysis, Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Patient Safety/Pharmacovigilance, Investor Relations, Business, Commercial, Compliance)
Lead through influence
Excellent judgement
Scientific thinking
An advanced degree preferred e.g. MD, PhD, PharmD, or MS
Significant experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry.
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10-15% of the time, domestically and internationally
The estimated salary range for this position is $220-240K DOE. Actual salary determination is dependent on a variety of factors some of which include: experience, qualifications, and geographic location. This position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus or an incentive compensation plan (eligibility varies based on role and position level), discretionary stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and a comprehensive benefits package.
