We have an exciting opportunity in Poway, CA (San Diego, CA) for a Senior Staff Antenna Engineer to join the RF/Antenna Engineering group. The successful candidate will work on a research team engaged in the development of low-cost active electronically scanned antenna arrays in X, Ku, and Ka bands. Major areas include system-level design and analysis, hardware design and maturation, hardware test and demonstration, and interfacing with customers and senior management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform as the Principal Investigator for phased antenna array systems.
Lead or participate in proposal preparation and technical analysis in support of new business activities.
Determine and manage system requirements.
Develop test programs and analysis for requirements verification.
Prepare and present status/progress reports, PDR & CDR presentations, and formal proposals to executive level personnel and customers.
Investigate new technologies and applications.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Perform as Subject Matter Expert for company-wide antenna-related concerns.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
Requires PhD in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and ten years of engineering experience
Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Must have a strong understanding of system level design, particularly with regards to phased antenna array systems, including the ability to generate link budgets and co-site interference analysis.
Must have experience in the design and development of low cost printed circuit board patch array antennas. Experience with aperture-coupled or probe-fed antenna arrays using circular polarization is preferred.
Must have experience in the design of passive microwave structures such as antenna elements, hybrid couplers, filters, and antenna feed circuits using multi-layer PCB technology.
Must have experience implementing active surface-mount components such as LNAs, power amplifiers, phase shifters, and beamformers.
Must have familiarity with phased array beamforming circuits and techniques.
Must have experience selecting PCB stack-ups and have detailed knowledge of PCB antenna fabrication techniques to work with suppliers.
Antenna design experience utilizing magneto-dielectric materials is preferred.
Must have proficiency with electromagnetic analysis software such as HFSS, FEKO, or CST.
Must have proficiency with microwave circuit simulation software such as AWR or ADS.
Must have the ability to manipulate data, perform analysis, and generate data visualization products in MATLAB or Python.
Must have familiarity with schematic capture and layout tools. Experience with PADS is preferred.
Must have experience with antenna measurement techniques, such as compact anechoic chambers, outdoor ranges, and near field scanners.
Must have strong laboratory / field testing skills and have experience with test equipment, such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
Must possess the ability to organize, plan, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment.
Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
