Tessera is seeking a Mechanic, Marine Machinery/Facilities responsible for the dismantling, repair, relocation, modification, alignment, and installation of a wide range of marine machinery, equipment, and systems. This position supports the maintenance and overhaul of propulsion systems, propellers, rudders, cargo handling machinery, lifeboat davits, anchor handling gear, and missile tube equipment located aboard submarines, ships, and other floating craft. The role plays a vital part in ensuring that all marine mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards and specifications. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Inspects and diagnoses problems in marine engines, pumps, compressors, winches, cranes, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, and other onboard mechanical systems. Performs routine maintenance like oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication. Repairs or replaces faulty parts such as gears, valves, seals, and bearings. Installing new mechanical equipment on ships or at marine facilities. Modifying or upgrading existing systems to meet new performance or safety standards. Using diagnostic tools and technical manuals to pinpoint problems in complex systems. Testing repaired systems to ensure they operate correctly under load and environmental conditions. Ensuring that all machinery complies with maritime safety and environmental regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL). Keep records of maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs for audits or inspections. Qualifications: Associate's degree required Minimum of 3 years' related experience Certification or training from maritime institutions preferred. Knowledge of marine systems and regulations. Practical knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components of diverse marine machinery and their attachments. Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics. Safety awareness, especially in confined spaces and hazardous environments.
