Senior Data Platform & Governance Lead
Location: Portugal, Greece, Spain
Role Purpose
We are looking for an experienced, innovative and highly motivated Senior Database Management Specialist to enhance the data governance capabilities of key IQVIA’s existing and next-generation data platforms designed to consolidate, unify, and govern data across the organization. As the Sr Database Management Specialist, you will collaborate on data model design, managing key initiatives, integrating new data sources, producing reports, utilizing AI to enhance processes, and upholding best practices in database management.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design or modify data models to solve complex database requirements
Coordinate the implementation of new countries or data sources aligned with governance standards
Provide governance reporting and insights to support key governance activities, executive oversight, and informed decision‑making
Leverage AI‑enabled capabilities to improve governance quality processes, including data quality monitoring, metadata consistency, and control effectiveness
Facilitate and coordinate formal and informal discussions to support database designs
Assist with creating and maintaining enterprise-wide data standards. Organize metadata for use by teams
Maintain best practices for data modelling, storage, and retrieval
Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
Technical skills and knowledge
Proven experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or Data Platform Lead
5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and expertise
Experience with relational databases, including schema design and query optimization
Strong proficiency in SQL and query optimization
Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including ETL/ELT, data modeling, APIs, and cloud-native architecture
Hands-on experience with Spotfire, Qlik Sense and/or Power BI
Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, or similar platforms
Familiarity with AI-powered productivity tools (Copilot/Cursor) and their practical use in day-to-day software development workflows
Project Management experience
Fluent in English
Personal skills
Experience with managing multiple projects
Ability to present complex results in a clear language for both technical and non-technical audience
Experience collaborating with global teams and understanding of cross-cultural communication
Excellent analytical & troubleshooting skills
