Job Title: Stainless Steel Tubing Bender Operator

Job Description

The Stainless Steel Tubing Bender Operator plays a hands-on role in shaping, finishing, and preparing stainless steel tubing for both standard product lines and custom rail designs. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who takes pride in craftsmanship, works safely and efficiently with tools and machinery, and consistently delivers high-quality finished products that meet precise specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately bend stainless steel tubing according to detailed product specifications and custom rail requirements using specialized tools and equipment.

  • Set up, operate, and monitor bending machines and related equipment to ensure precise and consistent tubing shapes.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to determine bending measurements, angles, and finishing requirements.

  • Use measurement tools to verify tubing dimensions, tolerances, and alignment throughout the fabrication process.

  • Buff, polish, and clean stainless steel tubing to achieve a smooth, professional surface finish that meets quality standards.

  • Inspect finished tubing for defects, surface imperfections, or dimensional inaccuracies and make adjustments as needed.

  • Carefully package finished products using appropriate materials and methods to prevent damage during handling and shipping.

  • Maintain accurate production and quality records using computer systems and basic computer applications.

  • Collaborate closely with team members and supervisors to meet daily and weekly production goals.

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including proper storage of tools, materials, and finished goods.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating machinery, using hand tools, and handling materials.

  • Perform general labor tasks in the production area as needed to support overall workflow and efficiency.

  • Assist with basic machine maintenance, such as cleaning, minor adjustments, and reporting mechanical issues.

  • Take on additional duties as assigned to support production, quality, and operational improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to product quality.

  • Comfort working with hand tools, power tools, and production machinery.

  • Ability to use measurement tools to verify dimensions, angles, and tolerances.

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to perform essential computer operations related to production and documentation.

  • Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Comfort working in a production or general labor environment with hands-on tasks.

  • Willingness to learn stainless steel tubing fabrication processes and follow established procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in metal fabrication or a manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required.

  • Experience with machine operation, particularly bending or forming equipment, is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with production processes and general labor tasks in an industrial setting.

  • Ability to operate and monitor machinery safely and efficiently.

  • Experience with surface finishing processes such as buffing and polishing is beneficial.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make adjustments to improve product quality.

  • Interest in developing technical skills and growing within a production or fabrication environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a production and fabrication environment where stainless steel tubing is shaped, finished, and packaged using a variety of tools, machines, and measurement equipment. The position involves frequent hands-on work with bending machinery, hand tools, polishing and buffing equipment, and computer systems for basic operational tasks and recordkeeping. Work is performed in a shop or manufacturing floor setting that requires adherence to safety protocols and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The environment is team-oriented, with close collaboration among production staff and supervisors to meet output and quality goals, and it may involve standing for extended periods, handling materials, and performing general labor tasks throughout the shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
