General Purpose
Provides professional technical accounting and financial reporting services utilizing U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) rules and regulations and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) Uniform System of Accounts. Activities include interpretation and application of these principles, rules and regulations along with company accounting and finance policies, as well as various external financial reporting responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Perform technical accounting research under GAAP, FERC and SEC accounting and disclosure requirements, including gathering, analyzing and interpreting information to recommend proper accounting treatment to finance and operational personnel and documenting conclusions in formal memorandums or other written or verbal communications that may be shared with PacifiCorp's executives, parent company and external auditors
Perform technical accounting duties, including reviews of significant contracts and regulatory orders for accounting and disclosure implications, assessment of new accounting pronouncements and other internal controls related to technical accounting
Assist with preparation of SEC Form 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K filings to gather information by working with individuals across the company, including from operational, finance and accounting, treasury, legal and regulatory teams
Assist with preparation of SEC Form 10-K and 10-Q filings to compile disclosures, perform analysis and interpret financial information and data provided by other departments while ensuring completeness and accuracy of disclosures
Assist with preparation of other external reports, which may include the quarterly and annual FERC Forms 3Q and Forms 1, environmental, social and governance reports, state regulatory reports and employee benefit plan reports
Assist with quarterly internal controls over financial reporting tasks
Assist with quarterly variance analyses of actual results for reporting to parent company and in support of related deliverables for SEC filings and internal controls
Perform other ad hoc reporting and tasks, which may include providing information to external auditors, gathering information and drafting responses for due diligence requests for long-term debt offerings, drafting responses to data requests from state regulatory commissions and the FERC and preparing schedules to support financial, planning and analysis deliverables
Potentially assist with information security management system controls compliance
Consult with operational and management personnel on issues that may be critical, complex, sensitive, or urgent in nature, identifying and implementing solutions
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of seven years relevant experience.
Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong experience with the review and development of controls and oversight procedures, FERC and regulatory processes
Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis
Demonstrated proficiency in the performance of advanced accounting methodologies and procedures
Proficient with the use of software applications, including Excel, to gather, analyze, and summarize data
Proven ability to review policies and procedures and determine validity and develop process to ensure ongoing compliance
Ability to develop, document, implement and enforce processes and procedures
Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and give direction to internal and external customers regarding highly complex accounting matters/issues
Ability to function effectively within a team environment and to interface effectively with personnel from other business units
Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines
Knowledge of research, analysis, and consulting techniques, Company policies, procedures, practices, and applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations
Preferences
Public accounting experience
Certified Public Accountant
General understanding of FERC Uniform System of Accounts and ratemaking principles
SAP experience
Knowledge of company accounting policies, procedures, practices, and system
Supervisory experience
