Job Title: Parts Logistics Coordinator
Job Description
The Parts Logistics Coordinator supports a fleet of prototype heavy-duty diesel and electric trucks by managing powertrain parts and logistics to ensure technicians always have the right components available at the right time. This role focuses on inventory control, shipping and receiving, and tool crib oversight, with a strong emphasis on supporting reliability growth testing for advanced powertrain systems. You will work closely with technicians and engineers in a primarily shop-based environment, helping to build and maintain a cutting-edge prototype electrified truck fleet.
Responsibilities
Prepare and coordinate overseas shipments, ensuring all documentation and packaging meet required standards.
Maintain consistent in-person working hours each weekday, working an 8-hour shift starting at or before 7:00 AM.
Keep the powertrain parts area neat, organized, and clearly labeled to support efficient operations.
Allocate parts for powertrain repairs based on work order requirements and technician needs.
Enter, update, and maintain accurate inventory records, including parts, quantities, and units of measure.
Investigate inventory shortages and discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Manage the tool crib, including general tools used by technicians, and ensure accurate tracking of tool usage and returns.
Use internal parts tracking software (such as ENLAV and SAP) to close work orders and maintain up-to-date inventory data.
Continue to build knowledge of powertrain hardware and inventory control best practices through ongoing training.
Maintain accurate parts inventory as items are added to stock, installed on test trucks, or removed from test trucks.
Create move orders for parts removed from trucks and for new parts that need to be shipped to Detroit or other designated locations in Portland.
Oversee the loading and unloading of trailers that transport parts and large components between Portland and Detroit approximately every two weeks.
Manage the storage and organization of all Detroit parts within the designated reliability growth building.
Pull and stage parts in advance of scheduled work to maximize technician efficiency and minimize downtime.
Support a fleet of prototype heavy-duty diesel and electric trucks, with a focus on powertrain components such as engines, exhaust after-treatment systems, transmissions, and axles.
Ensure all necessary parts are on hand or ordered quickly and made ready for technicians according to engineers’ instructions.
Communicate clearly and regularly with technicians, engineers, and other team members to coordinate parts needs and logistics.
Collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team to support 24/7 vehicle testing operations.
Essential Skills
Proficiency and certification in operating a stand-up forklift.
Ability to work an 8-hour shift from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday on non-holidays.
Experience with inventory management and parts logistics in a shop or automotive environment.
Ability to use SAP or SAP ERP systems for inventory tracking and parts management.
Strong understanding of logistics processes, including shipping, receiving, and move orders.
Experience with shipping and logistics, including preparation of bills of lading and shipment documentation.
Ability to support heavy-duty truck parts ordering, kitting, and cycle counts.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Ability to work with powertrain-related components such as engines, exhaust after-treatment, transmissions, and axles.
Comfort working around heavy-duty trucks, mechanical components, and shop equipment.
Work Environment
This role operates in a combined shop and office environment, with most time spent in the shop area managing inventory, parts, and tools, and some time at a desk using computer systems. You will work closely with technicians and engineers who support a fleet of prototype heavy-duty diesel and electric trucks that operate around the clock. The facility includes an inventory area, storage for large components, and a reliability growth building where parts are organized and staged. Work involves regular interaction with trailers and material handling equipment for loading and unloading parts and large components. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with an 8-hour in-person shift each day. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
