Machine Operator / Crane Operator
Portland, OR
Pay Rate: $27.70/hr
Job Description
Operate overhead and wall‑walker cranes using remote and pendant controls
Select and secure appropriate rigging devices including chains, straps, hooks, and magnets
Transport steel and metal materials using cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
Perform safety inspections and complete required checklists
Set up and operate metal cutting saws according to work orders and specifications
Monitor and operate multiple saws as production requires
Measure and verify material dimensions and quality using hand tools and measuring devices
Utilize computer systems for documentation, labeling, scanning, and printing
Use grinders and sanders to remove burrs and rough edges
Label, band, and package finished products for shipment
Perform routine maintenance such as changing saw blades, propane tanks, and sideloader batteries
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by sweeping metal shavings and clearing debris
Participate in safety, quality, and job‑specific training sessions
Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience operating metal cutting saws or similar industrial equipment preferred
Overhead crane or material handling equipment experience
Knowledge of rigging practices and material handling procedures
Forklift and pallet jack experience
Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measuring tools
Basic math and computer skills
Strong attention to detail and safety practices
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical ability to perform medium‑duty industrial work

Second‑shift position with a 2:30 p.m. start time after the first week
Non‑climate‑controlled metal and steel warehouse
Loud industrial environment with active overhead cranes, band saws, waterjets, forklifts, and related equipment
Steel materials are cut, processed, and prepared for shipment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.70 - $27.70/hr.
