Aerotek CNC Machinist in Portland, Oregon

CNC Machinist – Vertical & Horizontal Mills

Location: Portland, OR

Pay: $20.00 – $31.00 / HR

Schedule: Monday – Thursday | 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Job Description

Set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment. This role involves true custom work with minimal engineering support and requires strong troubleshooting, machining, and setup skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Set up and operate 2–3 axis vertical mills and 3–5 axis horizontal mills

  • Perform custom CNC setups for hydraulic components, manifolds, and porting blocks

  • Vertical milling of precision parts

  • Edit and troubleshoot G & M codes

  • Perform live tooling edits as required

  • Load and unload parts safely and efficiently

  • Adjust and manage tool offsets

  • Set up fixtures and fixturing for custom jobs

  • Independently diagnose and resolve machining issues

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience performing custom CNC machining

  • Strong knowledge of G & M codes and live tool editing

  • Experience with vertical and horizontal milling

  • Solid math and trigonometry skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work without direct engineering support

  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs

  • Very clean manufacturing facility

  • 18–20 machinists in the shop with 3–4 programmers

  • Fast-paced custom job shop environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $31.00/hr.
