General Summary:
This role is responsible to build organizational capability that supports business strategy and contributes to the success of our company through the identification, and consultation on talent development strategies in assigned client organizations. This requires building relationships, understanding business priorities, assessing business issues impacting talent needs and creating talent development strategies to address those needs, in partnership with HRBPs and other L&D teams. This position also supports the succession strategy by accelerating the readiness of officer-level talent through focused coaching and will help accelerate and enhance leadership performance and scope, and support the growth and development of leaders and high‑potential talent as they navigate organizational and work environment changes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for building and managing relationships with Senior and other appropriate business leadership team members, P&C partners including HRBPS, and other key stakeholders to understand the assigned group’s strategy and priorities related to their talent management and development goals.
Identify and build strategies to support development for high potential talent within the organization, with a focus on maximizing the performance, growth, and retention of this talent.
Partner with the I&D team to co-create strategies that actively support our I&D goals.
Know and understand key talent in assigned business area to inform decisions about development strategies, including who would most benefit from Enterprise offerings that have limited capacity.
Appropriately challenge when required and develop Talent Strategies that align to and support the business and enterprise objectives.
Provide a more relevant and strategic service for the business areas through talent development consultation and solutions that truly impact business performance.
Support and influence assigned client area by socializing and supporting broader enterprise solutions (ex. Change management, Talent Review/Succession Management, Onboarding, etc.) and consulting on how to best implement and maximize these tools within the context of the organization.
Provide strategic talent management consulting in collaboration with the Global Talent and Inclusion organization to ensure we have clear strategies around enterprise-wide policies that impact global talent.
Collaborate as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution, and:

Support and promote opportunities which strengthen the Unum brand.

Job Specifications
Bachelor’s degree, advance degree preferred
8-10 years’ experience in the field of HR/L&D, with a strong knowledge of all P&C functions as key business levers
Demonstrated success as an internal consultant and coach
Innovative – outside in focus; able to think and create new approaches
Demonstrated strength influencing others and driving enterprise results
Analytical ability and evaluative thinking skills; demonstrated ability to analyze data, spot trends and put forth value added observations/recommendations
Demonstrated project management skills
Strong ability to think strategically and successfully implement solutions
Demonstrated leadership experience and ability
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management including Senior Management and create strong working relationships
Strong verbal and written communication skills

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,900.00-$169,900.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
