Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Compensation
$40/hour
Approx. $1,600/week
Position Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a 26-week day-shift contract at Stanley Correctional Institution. This role supports the delivery of routine and urgent medical care to individuals in custody within a structured correctional healthcare environment.
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LPN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while maintaining facility safety and security standards. This assignment offers a predictable weekday schedule and long-term stability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide general and emergency nursing care under RN supervision
Perform patient assessments and monitor physiologic and psychosocial changes
Administer medications and treatments as ordered
Document care plans, interventions, and patient responses accurately
Identify and prioritize patient care needs
Monitor safety and effectiveness of equipment and care environments
Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
Complete additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
CPR certification (if applicable)
TB screening and health clearance per requirements
Ability to meet all WI DOC background and onboarding requirements
Strong communication, documentation, and computer skills
Must meet all federal, state, and local regulations
Corrections experience preferred, but not required
Schedule & Work Environment
Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Monday–Friday schedule
Long-term, structured correctional healthcare setting
No rotating shifts
