Stryker Business Development M&A Analyst (HYBRID) in Portage, Michigan

What you will do:

As our Business Development M&A Analyst, you will support the members of the Medical Business Development team on ad hoc analysis, special projects, and reporting. Over the past decade, the Medical BD team has deployed north of $7Bn of invested capital across a variety of different M&A opportunities (acquisitions of companies, assets, intellectual property, etc.).

This is a unique opportunity for you to join a high-impact team in a high-visibility position. You will need to be highly motivated and can effectively combine exceptional strategic thinking, superior communication, and industry research, project management and quantitative skills. Your high-level responsibilities will initially include ownership of financial models, leading critical market and competitive analysis, early identification and segmentation of industry trends with a lens toward tangible BD activity recommendations, and due diligence support associated with mergers and acquisitions, licensing opportunities and distribution agreements.

This is a hybrid role where you will be in the Portage, MI office Monday -Wednesday every week and have the flexibility to work from home Thursday and Friday.

  • Partner with Director of BD to evaluate acquisition opportunities to expand our presence in core, adjacent, and new markets from initial concept to analysis to recommendation.

  • Work closely with the Strategy and Market Insights team to evaluate market and category dynamics, competitive trends, conduct research, and support ad-hoc special projects for our Executive teams

  • Align with business unit stakeholders to understand business needs, conduct critical segment research, and assist in the shaping of business unit level inputs to valuation models and post-close business strategy for potential BD activity.

  • Lead development of robust business cases and participate in key decision-making arenas with Stryker leadership. Analysis typically will include macro and micro market assessments, pricing strategies, and cost structure analyses.

  • Support due diligence deal teams including Division-based business leaders (e.g., VP/GMs), functional leaders (e.g., Finance, Marketing, HR), and outside experts (e.g., investment banks, consulting firms).

  • Build and take ownership of detailed valuation analyses including multi-scenario discounted cash flow models, LBOs, and various other financial impact analyses.

  • Create and maintain tracking and reporting of key industry events, transactions, and trends for Medical, to help inform and guide Business Development activities

  • Own ongoing tracking and monitoring of all BD opportunities, relationships, and interactions using CRM tool.

  • Drive regular competitive intelligence reporting and modeling for review by BU and Divisional leadership

  • Customer satisfaction: Perform with honesty, transparency, and integrity, instituting a highly responsive and unsurpassed level of customer service. Promote an environment emphasizing teamwork, empowerment, and problem resolution with a consultative approach.

  • Prudent management of budgeted expenses.

What you need

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Excel and PowerPoint are required for this position.

Preferred:

  • Professional or internship experience in investment banking / management consulting / corporate finance position(s) strongly preferred

  • Experience in investment banking / management consulting / corporate finance position(s) strongly preferred

  • Prior experience with valuation modeling in addition to strategic planning, competitive research, market sizing and trend analyses

  • Knowledge and experience in leading strategic research projects that drive formal recommendations (can be in academic setting)
