Field Engineer (Electrical)

About the Role
We are seeking a driven and detail‑oriented Field Engineer (Electrical) to support construction activities on large‑scale solar energy and data center projects across the Midwest. This position plays a key role in ensuring field operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with all project plans, schedules, and quality standards.
The Field Engineer serves as a central communication hub—coordinating between field crews, subcontractors, general contractors, and the project management team to keep work moving smoothly and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and manage project document control systems, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and as‑built documentation.
Track and distribute document revisions to ensure all field teams are working from the latest versions.
Support creation and maintenance of 1‑week and 3‑week look‑ahead schedules.
Coordinate daily and upcoming work activities with field supervisors and subcontractors.
Assist with tracking daily production, labor hours, and installed quantities.
Support project progress reporting, forecasting, and status updates.
Conduct field walks to verify installation progress matches plans and schedules.
Serve as a liaison between the electrical contractor and the General Contractor (GC).
Participate in coordination meetings, safety meetings, and planning discussions.
Communicate field constraints, material needs, and schedule impacts to project leadership.
Assist with onboarding new field personnel, including orientation and documentation support.
Support site safety programs and ensure compliance with project safety requirements.
Verify installation accuracy against drawings and specifications as part of quality control.
Perform construction administration tasks such as processing Submittals, RFIs, Change Orders, Bulletins, and Record Drawings.
Assist with functional testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
Maintain consistent project standards while contributing to a collaborative, team‑focused work environment.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, electrical plans, and project specifications.
Willingness to travel throughout the Midwest for project assignments.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Washington, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $36.00/hr.
