What you'll Do:

Position is responsible for the delivery of services in a classroom setting. Responsible for planning and implementing a child development and family support program primarily at the Early Head Start Center. Provide a nurturing and educational environment that meets the individual needs of infants and toddlers. Supervises the Infant-Toddler Caregiver and Early Childhood Aide. Partner and communicate with parents to assure client satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

Provide leadership and implementation of a center-based program option;

Plan and implement an early education curriculum in a center-based classroom setting that places an emphasis on responsive care, care-giving routines and the caregiver-child relationship;

Supervise the Infant-Toddler Caregiver and Early Childhood Aide, communicate clear expectations, provide encouragement, training and support, delegate responsibility appropriately, and address performance issues promptly;

Work productively with team members to ensure strengths are utilized and work is completed;

Act as primary caregiver to four infants or toddlers as assigned;

Maintain files for up to eight children;

Utilize required screening and child assessment tools and demonstrate ability to use this information for planning program activities that are outcome-based and purposeful;

Conduct ongoing observation of children and plan the curriculum to be responsive and to support each child's individual pattern for development and learning;

Plan and provide routines and experiences that advance physical and intellectual competence, support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance to children;

Promote child and family literacy to include offering daily literacy and language experiences at the center;

Provide a healthy and safe environment that encourages play, exploration and learning;

Demonstrate basic safety and handling techniques (universal precautions), emergency procedures, and prevention of communicable and infectious diseases; and assume general responsibility for overall maintenance of the classroom;
