LogistiQ Fabrication Supervisor 2nd Shift in Port Clinton, Ohio

10% Shift Premium $1,000 Sign On Bonus

JOB SUMMARY: The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the fabrication department, ensuring efficient and accurate cutting, forming, punching, and machining of metal components per production schedules and engineering specifications.

 

This role provides front-line leadership to fabrication technicians, enforces quality and safety standards, and drives productivity through effective scheduling, communication, and team development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

Production & Workflow

• Supervise the day-to-day operations of lasers, press brakes, turret punches, saws, and other fabrication machinery.

• Assign work orders and prioritize jobs based on production requirements and material availability.

• Ensure parts are fabricated to specification and tolerances using engineering drawings and BOMs.

• Coordinate with Materials, Engineering, and Assembly to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of parts.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of fabricators.

• Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate goals, production updates, and safety topics.

• Support the training and onboarding of new team members.

• Provide feedback and assist with performance reviews and corrective actions as needed.

Quality & Safety

• Ensure all fabrication operations are performed safely and team members follow all PPE and OSHA guidelines.

• Enforce safety policies and lead safety meetings and audits.

• Monitor in-process inspections and first-piece approvals; escalate quality issues to the Quality or Engineering teams.

• Ensure parts meet quality standards and dimensional accuracy before moving downstream.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Monitor the condition of fabrication machinery and coordinate with maintenance for repairs or preventive maintenance.

• Ensure operators are using equipment properly and safely.

• Assist in troubleshooting basic machine or tooling issues to minimize downtime.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, material yield, and throughput.

• Support and lead Lean initiatives such as 5S, standard work, and waste reduction.

• Recommend tooling or programming improvements to Engineering or Programming teams.

• Assist in developing and refining fabrication processes and documentation.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  

• Directly supervises hourly production staff in fabrication.

• Responsible for staffing, coaching, performance management, and scheduling within the assigned areas.

• Creates a positive, disciplined work environment focused on results and continuous improvement.

• Provides regular updates to the Area Manager and collaborates on staffing and production planning.

 

TRAVEL DEMANDS:

 

• May require occasional travel locally, to customer sites, or for training purposes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong understanding of fabrication methods, sheet metal processes, and equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.

• Proficient in basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).

• Familiar with programming basics and nesting software is a plus.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); ERP system experience is a plus.

• Effective communicator with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
