Position Overview
The Deli Team Member plays a key role in delivering excellent food quality and customer service within our deli department. This position is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food items, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and supporting overall deli operations. Flexibility, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are essential. Must be courteous and friendly.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking
- Prepare, season, cook, bake, grill, and fry food items according to company recipes and safety standards.
- Operate fryers, ovens, steam tables, and other kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
- Follow proper portioning and presentation guidelines.
- Assist with daily prep work, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients.
Service and Customer Interaction
- Serve customers at the steam table line with speed, accuracy, and a positive attitude.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked service line at all times.
- Answer customer questions about menu items and provide recommendations when appropriate.
Dishwashing and Cleaning
- Wash dishes, utensils, pans, and equipment using proper sanitation procedures.
- Keep workstations, prep areas, and storage areas clean and orderly.
- Follow all sanitation, handwashing, and food-safety regulations.
Operations and Teamwork
- Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Check temperatures, rotate stock, and ensure proper food storage.
- Communicate any product shortages or equipment issues to the shift lead or manager.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while supporting other team members as needed.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a deli, cafeteria, or kitchen environment preferred but not required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs and handle hot equipment safely.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment.
Work Environment and Schedule
- Fast-paced kitchen/deli environment requiring regular standing, lifting, bending, and reaching.
- No nights or weekends required. Monday-Friday only.
