Job Description
The Lead Structures Technician oversees a small team of structures technicians to deliver high-quality heavy modification and structural repair work on a variety of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. This role combines hands-on structures work with day-to-day leadership, planning, and coordination, ensuring projects run safely, efficiently, and to rigorous aviation standards. The position requires significant MRO/AMO experience, strong technical capability in heavy structures and sheet metal, and the ability to manage a project with minimal supervision from start to finish.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate a team of up to four technicians, providing clear direction, assigning tasks, and ensuring each team member has the tools, resources, and paperwork needed to complete their work.
Run projects with minimal supervision, taking ownership of planning, execution, and day-to-day decision-making to keep work on schedule and within scope.
Prioritize jobs and manage timelines effectively, balancing multiple tasks and adjusting plans as needed to meet operational requirements.
Monitor team progress throughout the day, checking work quality, providing guidance, and resolving issues to maintain high standards of workmanship and safety.
Ensure safe work practices for yourself and your team, identifying potential hazards, promoting a strong safety culture, and addressing safety concerns promptly.
Make daily micro-decisions related to sequencing, task allocation, and problem-solving to keep projects moving efficiently.
Report resource needs, missing materials, tooling issues, and safety concerns to leadership in a timely and accurate manner.
Perform hands-on structural repairs and modifications when working on the tools, including heavy structures and sheet metal tasks.
Carry out repairs and modifications on avionics supports, skin doublers, and structural mounts and racks for radio brackets, as well as generic structural repairs as required.
Work on a variety of aircraft platforms, including helicopters and fixed-wing fleets such as C130 and 737 types, applying appropriate structural repair and modification techniques.
Use and maintain personal tools appropriately and ensure they are suitable and available for the required tasks.
Adapt to physically demanding work conditions, including stooping, working on the floor, kneeling, and working on your back to access aircraft structures.
Collaborate with a wider team of technicians and other disciplines in a hangar environment to ensure seamless project execution.
Participate in travel opportunities as required to support work at other locations or on remote projects.
Support a culture of teamwork, respect, and mutual support by communicating effectively and contributing positively to the work environment.
Essential Skills
Minimum 8+ years of MRO or AMO experience in an aviation environment.
Minimum 8+ years of heavy modification experience on aircraft structures.
Minimum 8+ years of heavy C-check experience on applicable aircraft types.
Licensed AME S or M2 with significant structures experience.
Previous experience holding an ACA (Aircraft Certification Authority) at some point in your career.
Demonstrated ability to run a project with little supervision, including planning, task allocation, and progress monitoring.
Proven experience in leading or guiding others in a hangar or maintenance environment.
Ability to perform structural repairs and modifications such as avionics supports, skin doublers, mounts, and racks for radio brackets.
Proficiency in English reading and writing to understand technical documentation, work instructions, and safety requirements.
Ability to bring and use a complete set of personal tools appropriate for aircraft structural work.
Experience working on helicopter and fixed-wing platforms such as C130 and 737 aircraft.
Strong understanding of aviation safety practices and the ability to apply them consistently for yourself and your team.
Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including stooping, kneeling, working on the floor, and working on your back.
Comfort working at heights when required for aircraft access and elevated platforms.

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $75.00/hr.
