Project Accounting Manager

Position Overview
The Project Accounting Manager serves as the financial backbone of the organization and a strategic advisor to executive leadership. This builder-and-operator role develops accounting infrastructure, strengthens internal controls, oversees construction/project accounting, and guides financial strategy to support sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
• Partner with executive leadership on financial planning and performance optimization
• Develop KPI dashboards aligned with revenue growth, margin performance, and overhead management
• Provide forecasting, financial modeling, and ROI analysis
• Support capital planning and investor reporting initiatives
Accounting Operations & Controls
• Oversee GL, AR, AP, payroll, and administrative accounting functions
• Lead month-end and year-end close
• Manage multi-entity consolidations and intercompany transactions
• Design and document scalable internal control processes
Construction & Project Accounting
• Oversee percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
• Maintain and review WIP schedules
• Monitor job costing, billing cycles, cost allocations, and project profitability
Cash Flow & Compliance
• Manage weekly cash position and rolling forecasts
• Oversee banking relationships
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with external auditors and CPA advisors

Requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
• Strong expertise in project accounting, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition
• Background in construction, landscaping, asset-based, or related industries preferred
• Experience in entrepreneurial or high-growth environments highly desirable
• Advanced Excel proficiency; QuickBooks required
• Strong analytical skills and executive-level communication presence
