The Opportunity:

Williams International Co, LLC, has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer II -- Manufacturing to join our team at our facility located at 2000 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac, MI 48341. The successful applicant will be responsible for designing and developing manufacturing processes for sheet metal, casting, forging, and laser cutting for aerospace turbine engine components;  programming CNC equipment; performing PMR dispositions on non-conforming material for turbine engines; and for tool and gauge designs for new products and improvements.

More Specific Duties Include:

  1. Develop NC programs for sheet metal, casting, and forging related operations to fabricate turbine engine components. Coordinate with engineers and management on manufacturing improvements. Ensure that parts and components are manufactured to production planning, meet company quality, and cost requirements.
  2. Develop programs for CNC laser operations (CO2 and Fiber Laser Machines), including laser welding and laser cutting processes.
  3. Tool and gage designs will be created using Siemens NX software to be used on new products and to improve current designs.
  4. Conduct design/analysis assignments of turbine engine assembly, analysis of engineering problems, and development of significant criteria to support assembly design concepts and feasibility.
  5. Collect first article inspection requirements for new part revisions to ensure design changes are implemented.
  6. Initiate scrap reduction efforts through improved tooling design, written operator instructions, and corrective action resolutions.
  7. Report nonconforming parts via internal quality tracking system to monitor trends and recommend solutions to reoccurring discrepancies.
  8. Advise other Engineering & Production personnel regarding test requirements, procedures, product specifications, etc.  Assist in the evaluation of results.
  9. Evaluate and review engineering drawings and designs for production and manufacturing.
  • Ensure that the work areas are free of safety hazards and employees are working with the proper PPE (glasses, gloves, etc.) as required by our procedures. Conduct safety audits.

M-F 40 hrs./wk.  8:00 am -- 5:00 pm.

*Minimum Requirements: *

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (U.S. or foreign) or a related degree.

``` - Two years of aerospace turbine engine engineering experience.

``` - Two years of experience in cellular manufacturing, including design, processes, engineering, and quality systems, specifically in sheet metal, castings, and forgings.

``` - Two years of experience in CNC programming for the production of aerospace turbine engine parts.

``` - Two years of experience designing tooling and fixtures specifically for forming dies, cutting dies, laser cutting, and laser welding.

``` - Two years of experience using Product Vision Database software; Siemens controls, Heiden Hain controls, and Fanuc controls; and NX 11 modeling software.
