The team you will be a part of:

The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

This role in summary:

A System Integrator or Controls engineer in Electrical and Electronic Systems (EES) is a professional who specializes in integrating electrical and electronic components and systems specifically for home appliances. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing the electrical and electronic systems that power and control various home appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, and more. This role would involve developing and programming control systems and user interfaces for the appliances, enabling users to interact with and operate the appliances with ease.

This may include designing intuitive control panels, integrating touch screens or digital displays, and implementing smart features and connectivity options for remote control or integration with smart home systems. A System Integrator or Controls engineer is going to work closely with a team of engineers, designers, and technicians to understand the functional requirements of the home appliances and translate them into effective system architectures. System Integrator or Controls engineer would be responsible for selecting and integrating the appropriate electrical and electronic components, such as hardware, software, wire harnesses, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces, to ensure seamless operatio and optimal performance of the appliances.

Throughout the Whirlpool Development Process (WPD), System Integrator or Controls engineer would collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and energy efficiency requirements.

System Integrator or Controls engineer would conduct testing and troubleshooting activities to identify and resolve any electrical or electronic issues, ensuring that the appliances meet high-quality standards and deliver a positive user experience. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

• Manage system integration of projects in Production Development Projects.

• Work with system architects to have a better hand shake from G0 (planning) to Execution starting at G1

• Support arch to Decompose product level requirements generation with Target ranges in DNG for EES System and alignment with stakeholders.

• Support Architects and Project Managers on project scoping work, aligning right cost, quality target and schedule (IDP) with stakeholders before project is initiated

• Accountable to Drive EES integration events since project initiation.

• Support on Platform integration event

• Ensure with the support of PM , product development activities are completed On time, Cost and Quality

• Performance targets to support the project plans and project execution.

• Responsible for EES system level design trade-offs and technical decision making for issue resolution within the project/product plan guardrails.

• Lead technical design reviews / Integration Even for project to provide an assessment of whether the project is within the architecture/project/product plan guardrails by working with key development team members (e.g. Subsystem teams, V&V Engineer, Project Leader) and by consulting with key architecture development team members when necessary (e.g. System Architect, Subsystem SMEs, V&V Strategist)

• Responsibility to Drive & tracking the closure of Risk Management and Knowledge Gap by partnering with stakeholders.

• Responsible to drive EES system validation through use of predictive validation methodologies in concept, design and product validation stages

• Responsible for driving Product Leadership through the Whirlpool Product Development process at the EES system Level.

• Responsible to drive the adherence of EES APQP and Support project APQP.

• Responsibility to Ensure variant-specific engineering bills of material (EBOMs) have proper configuration management and align to project charter and architecture definition

• Drive closure of EES System level dFMEA, based on Concept and Design Validation data and functional performance stacks.

• Drive closure of EES Subsystems dFMEA based on Concept and Design Validation data and functional performance stacks.

• Define parts will be needed for the builds, number of samples and dates required

• Align expenses, write POs and track the parts for builds and make sure they arrive on time

• Review test cases based on consumer use cases results are completed and approved as per the project plan with EES V&V Engineer , EES Subsystem, Platform Subsystem , Setting file Engineer, Platform SI

• Partner with the Systems Architect and Subsystem Engineers to ensure requirements are consistent, complete and approved as per the project plan

• Drive Subsystem Engineer & ECAD team for processing the Design package releases and control.

• Technical Support the Change Management (IOCs, significant scope changes) along with the PM , Depending on Project Scope Changes, that impact significantly Cost, Schedule or Resources, understand the impact of changes and build trade-off/selection material do decide approve/not approve IOC.

Minimum requirements:

• Education:

• BE or BS , ME or MS degree in Electrical or electronics or instrumentation Engineering, Power Electronics & Drives

• Electrical Engineering or Controls and Automation Engineer or another electrical related Degree

• 5 years project Engineering & Technical Design Experience or Post Graduation in relevant domain.

• Proven New Product development and execution experience in electrical and electronics related product.

• System Integration capabilities, Critical Systems Thinker

• Knowledge in given Product Platform (Refrigeration, Laundry, etc)

• Project management

• System design & system Integration

• Requirements Management

• Strong Electrical system background, including EMC Theory and Practice and Electrical Stack-up capability

• Base level: Exceptional problem solving approach with OPEX certification

• English Fluent level (Listen, Write and Speak in English is mandatory for the position);

• Good balance of technical and project management skills;

• Good communication skills

Preferred skills and experiences:

To excel in the role of a System Integrator in Electrical and Electronic Systems applied in home appliances, the following experience and skills are valuable:

• Understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles, including circuit design, power systems, digital electronics, hardware, software and sensor technologies;

• Problem-solving skills;

• Collaboration skill to work within a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, designers, and technicians;

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines;

• Effective time management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.

• Ability to use basic AI tools and knowledge to use to solve and demonstrate the solutions.
