Savage is hiring a Class 1 Truck Driver in Point Tupper!

Temporary Position

$20.00/hourly (flat rate) with supplemental Driver pay up to $28.00

Here’s a preview of what you’ll be doing:
Safely and efficiently transport coal to and from our customer's locations. Drive a rotation of 12-hour shifts (this site operates 7 days/week and shifts may change based on operational needs)
What you will be doing:
Safely operate a commercial vehicle to transport and deliver customer products to designated locations in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and customer requirements
What are we looking for?
Valid Class 1 Driver's License
Willing to load trucks (with coal) using a payloader – training provided if required
High School or GED
18 years of age or older
Minimum of 1-year experience operating tractor/trailer combination
The ability to:
work from written and verbal instructions
work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others
work overtime as required
read, write, and understand English
Successful candidates must be willing to work any shift, including weekends (no overnight work)
Physical Requirements
This position requires the willingness and ability to work at heights as well as climb stairs
Lift up to 50 pounds
Work in an environment containing coal dust and in hot, cold, and wet environments
Must have the ability and willingness to perform the essential physical functions of the position
Candidates must be willing and able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
